Ling is a Summoner Supporter who brings a variety of powerful skills to the table and is perfectly tailored for a low-op playstyle. She can be an incredible tool in the right hands while also being a lot easier to start playing with than the other Summoners. She’s not as well suited for play with a full team, as her summons can take many deploy slots, but is capable of clearing many stages by herself and is an excellent choice for new players in need of a carry.

Strengths
- Can adapt to the stage and its constraints by picking different skills with different functions
- Able to summon incredibly powerful summons with enough stats to rival actual operators with S3
- Very easy to use thanks to powerful summons and their method of retrieval/generation
Weaknesses
- Summons with S3 have a high DP cost and long redeploy time, sometimes making it hard to open stages with it
- Not well suited to being in a full team due deploy slot constraints
Talents
Lantern Lit, Thy Dream Sought
Can use up to 5 summons (max 3 deployed at once). Summons’ effect changes based upon Skill
This talent is what allows Ling to use her summons. The most notable part of it is the change in summons with different skills. They will have different DP cost, attack interval and stats depending on the skill chosen.
So is Writ, an Ode to Wine
When a summon is defeated/absorbed/retrieved, Ling gains 3 SP and ATK +3% (ATK increase stacks up to 5 times)
Talent 2 Ling’s second talent allows her to gain bonus SP and some ATK. Its bonus SP works especially well with her S2 as that’s the skill that will be most taking advantage of summon recycling, especially when under heavy damage pressure. The damage buff isn’t too notable outside of her S3. The boost adds up nicely with the radial damage during the skill, especially when overlapped.

This skill is probably the simplest one in Ling’s kit. It’s similar in usage to another Summoner—Scene. The summons have only 1 block and have rather weak stats compared to actual operators. This skill is generally weaker than Ling’s other two skills but may still find some use due to the summons being a rather cheap blocker option. As an example, it can allow Ling to solo open stages where her S3 summons would take too much time to deploy.

The biggest gain from mastery is the SP cost reduction at M3, but this isn’t worth the investment for most players over her other two skills due to its low ceiling. Upgrading it is an extreme luxury that has a very small niche for players that may want it for the rare scenario where her other skills are not enough.

Ling’s second skill is used for ranged Arts DPS with some stalling utility. Its main use isn’t for the passive effect, but rather the active one—a powerful burst of Arts damage with a short multi-target bind. As such the best way to use this skill is to put at least one of the summons in a dangerous position. This makes it easy to take advantage of the recycling mechanic which synergizes well with Ling’s second talent, making the skill very spammable. Keep in mind that it takes a short time for the summons to fire their burst and be recycled, during which they can be killed and lost permanently. To avoid this, you can activate the skill even with no enemies in range and safely recycle summons if they are taking damage.

The masteries improve everything that’s good about this skill, the damage and SP cost, with the third also improving bind duration. With the masteries, it’s a powerful tool with a rather high skill ceiling. However, Ling is usually used by most for her S3, which is generally considered more powerful and versatile. This recommendation exists mostly for those who wish to get more out of Ling than just her S3, making it a rather low priority for most.

Note: When fusing into higher forms, increase the summon’s stats: gain +100% HP and RES, +80% ATK and DEF, +2 Block, and increase attack interval by +0.8s; reset HP to full and change damage type to Arts. Stat increases are additive with the skill bonus.
This skill is powerful right off the bat, as the basic summons can rival even other E2 operators in terms of raw stats. Higher forms take up 2 deployment slots, but are even more impressive and deal Arts damage to enemies up to their block count while still counting as one summon towards Ling’s own summon limit. This means she can summon up to two higher forms and one normal summon (without Module Y Stage 2). These dragons, especially the higher forms, can be preferable to actual operators in terms of both DPS and laneholding. The only drawback with S3 is their high cost and cooldown between deployments, sometimes making it hard to open a stage when doing a low op clear. However, for most players, this is nothing a Vanguard can’t solve, as they can generate DP and hold a lane early on.
There can be some finesse to her summons’ positioning due to the fusion mechanic. When one summon is placed in the attack range of another, the original summon will be retreated and the one that was placed afterwards will change into a higher form. This way summons can be “transported” to adjacent tiles when fusing. If both summons have each other in range, the one placed last will be consumed, resulting in no change in positioning.
The active part of the skill is pretty simple—it greatly boosts Ling’s and the summons’ DEF and ATK while providing a small amount of AoE Arts damage on top. The multiplier on the area around the summons may seem small, considering it scales off of Ling’s own ATK, but they hit within a short interval and can be stacked together to great effect.
Players may opt to start a stage with multiple basic dragons, as their faster attacks together with stacking the active AoE effect can lead to higher DPS than simply instantly combining into higher forms. As fusing leads to a full heal, it can be used defensively to keep them fighting in the same position and having much more effective HP if not bringing any source of regeneration for them.

This skill is extremely important to upgrade for those wishing to use Ling, especially those interested in low op clears or newer players without a large roster. The stat buffs are nice, and the ATK buff works twofold, boosting the direct damage of the summons and Ling alongside the AoE effect. Lower SP helps rotation a bit, but the stats are the main draw and they help open more situations where the summons can fight with ease. A great recommendation for newer players and veterans alike, as the former can benefit even more from Ling as a core operator with an undeveloped roster, and the latter can improve her power for low op clears and trust farming where the stat checks are relevant.

Skill 3: HP +250, ATK +60
This base module allows Ling to store more summons and decreases their DP cost. It’s very useful for those who enjoy using Ling as it strengthens her every skill. S2 is the one that benefits the most from the increased summon stock, as with the module losing summons permanently won’t be as punishing. S1 and S3 benefit from it too but mostly in the form of the decreased DP cost of the summons. Stage 2 allows Ling to deploy another summon on the field, which means she can now deploy up to 3 higher forms and 1 basic dragon. Stage 3’s stat gains may seem small but getting the module upgrade is equivalent to about 60-70 levels depending on the skill, which makes it extremely cheap in comparison. It lets Ling’s summons deal with statchecks that could be otherwise impossible due to the level cap.

The module and its further stages are a very worthwhile upgrade for Ling, making it a high priority for those who enjoy the low op playstle. Stage 2 will open up a lot more possibilities for those who wish to solo as many stages as possible with Ling, but is not required for those who just enjoy using her from time to time. As for stage 3—the only thing to consider is whether the stat gain is something that you find necessary in case of a certain stat-check. It is essentially double of what Ling can get from going to level 60 to 90 for a much cheaper cost, making it a more efficient investment. The real cost comes from the limited quantity of Module materials, but this module is undoubtedly one of the strongest ones available and a high recommendation for Ling enjoyers.
Synergy
Regen Healing Operators
This synergy is quite simple and revolves around the fact Ling’s summons cannot be healed directly. The easiest and most obvious source of stronger regen are Bard Supporters, but there are also Blemishine (S2), Suzuran (S3), Angelina (Second Talent), etc. These operators are great to bring to a squad alongside Ling if her summons are dying too fast. Examples such as Skadi the Corrupting Heart and Angelina are able to grant it passively with global range coverage, which makes them more practical than others since Ling’s summons may be very spread out.
