Lava the Purgatory is a Splash Caster with the potential to target multiple enemies at once in a large area with her skill. She also has the capability of being helidropped, a rare feature among casters. With proper positioning, Purgatory can cover a large area with her skills and deal arts damage to several enemies at once, although the damage she outputs is lacking.

Strengths
- Easily affects multiple targets in a large area with skills
- Flexible and easy to plan around range dependent on position of allies
Weaknesses
- Low damage output even with skills active
- Long skill cycles and mediocre uptime with only a one-time talent to improve them
Talents
Spell Formation
Immediately obtains 30 SP after the first deployment. On each deployment, grants SP +4 to other Caster allies on the field. When deployed, other Caster allies obtain initial SP +4
This talent is what allows Purgatory to be helidropped, but only on the first deployment. Should one redeploy her, it will take at least 40 seconds before she can activate her skills.
The initial SP boost for other casters can accelerate helidrop units such as Eyjafjalla to activate their skills even faster. However, Purgatory only provides 5 initial SP and the fact that she needs to be deployed in order for the SP to be given makes this feature a costly investment and cumbersome to make use of.

Attack Range +1 tile, ATK +20%, and attack up to 2 targets simultaneously
The most impactful part of this skill is Purgatory being able to hit 2 enemies. Should both targets be part of a clustered group, this allows the hits to overlap and provide some more damage. The range increase and minor ATK boost are decent bonuses, but don't contribute anything meaningful. Overall this skill pales in comparison to her S2.

The increase in ATK and decrease in SP cost offered by masteries are minimal, and as stated above this skill is not worth considering over Purgatory’s S2. Overall the skill is not worth mastering for most players.
Ring of Hellfire

Stops attacking and targets the ally with the highest HP within range, enveloping them and herself within a ring of fire. Each ring of fire deals 50% ATK as Arts damage every second to all enemies in the surrounding 8 tiles
With this skill, instead of splash attacks, Purgatory casts a 3x3 tile (excluding the center) ring of fire around herself and an ally with the highest HP in her range that hits all enemies within the area. This targeting condition proves useful as it attempts to place the ring around a tanky unit, such as a Defender. Since Defender operators naturally synergize with splash casters, this targeting proves to be beneficial. The rings can also be overlapped to deal more damage, as Purgatory will hit enemies in the overlapped areas twice. While this skill can cover a large area, significant damage will only be dealt in the area where the rings of fire overlap, greatly limiting its usage.

The most significant mastery is M3, but the skill’s damage output even after mastery isn’t high enough to warrant the investment.

The base module gives Purgatory an extra tile of range straight ahead. This means an extra tile to target an ally with her S2, allowing for more coverage and options for where the rings are placed. The stage 3 initial SP boost also lets her cast her skill instantly after deployment if it’s M3 and Purgatory’s potential is maxed.

Stage 1 of the module may seem like a good upgrade to increase the coverage of Purgatory’s rings of fire, but in most cases overlapping the rings by placing an operator closer is more beneficial. The module upgrades only boost the initial SP Lava gets on her first deployment by up to 5 at stage 3. Investing so much for a small boost on a one-time talent is not recommended.
