Ch’en the Holungday is a Spreadshooter Sniper with very high AOE damage output and strong debuffs within range. Her ammo mechanics allow for easy optimization in combat. The combination of very high damage, utility, and ease of use makes her a good option for any player and one of the most powerful operators in the game.

Trait:Attacks all enemies within range, and deals 150% damage to enemies in the row directly in front of this unit.

Her stats are standard for the branch, beating her counterparts due to her higher rarity allowing for higher levels. Her branch has great survivability for ranged operators. This enables Ch’en to take more pressure than usual, and allows you to place her at the frontlines to get the most out of her range.

Strengths

  • Very high AOE physical damage output that scales well with buffs
  • Great uptime and manual control over abilities allows for optimizing downtime
  • DEF and Movement Speed debuffs help herself and allies deal even more damage
  • High ranged survivability allows for more aggressive placement

Weaknesses

  • High DP cost and no helidrop capability limits usage in some scenarios
  • Short range with no side tiles limits placements outside of the frontline
  • Skill total damage output is unaffected by ASPD buff due to ammo limitations

Talents

Frugality

When deployed, Ch'en's ammo-based skills have 20% chance to not consume the corresponding ammo for each shot; Other Sniper Operators' ammo-based skills have 10% chance instead (only the highest effect of this type will be applied)

A strong talent, seeing as her entire kit relies on ammo. Ammo-based skills have a fixed total output, because there is a fixed amount of ammo, even with ASPD increases. This talent increases this fixed amount, allowing higher total damage output. This passively applies for her and (once E2) any other ammunition based operators.

This talent isn’t reliable due to RNG; however, it is plausible to expect a couple of procs from it when using skills with a higher ammo capacity. The talent activations can be identified by a distinct sound effect.

Vestiges of Vacation

ASPD +8, when there is water terrain on the battlefield, the effect becomes ASPD +12

Relatively simple boost to her normal attack DPS, but, as her skills are all ammunition based, it doesn’t do anything for her total skill damage output - it only allows her to unload her ammo faster. The further boost from water terrains is not very noticeable, and extremely rare in practice due to a lack of water terrain maps outside of a few events.

ATK +100%, attacks apply this unit's Trait effect to all enemies within range
Skill activation grants 4 ammo and the skill ends when all ammo is used (Can manually deactivate skill)

The skill’s additional effect allowing her to apply her trait to her entire range is great, but it lacks any additional utility, unlike her other skills. Its damage output is fine, but it has low ammunition, resulting in low total output. The automatic activation also negates one of her major strengths, which is the manual control over her skill’s activation and end that allows downtime optimization. It’s her weakest skill, and as soon as you get her to Elite 1, very easily forgotten about.

The skill is simply weaker than her other skills. It’s hard to recommend it as it doesn’t reliably provide anything unique to Ch’en that isn’t outdone by her other skills.

ATK +80%, attacks create a layer of sticky liquid within Attack Range that lasts for 5 seconds. Ground enemies passing over the sticky liquid have Movement Speed -35% and DEF -170 (Does not stack). Charged effect: Changes to 20 ammo
Skill activation grants 8 ammo and the skill ends when all ammo is used (Can manually deactivate skill)

This skill is very similar to her S3, but slightly weaker in both damage and debuffs. It serves as a good precursor to how she will be at E2. The slow keeps enemies in range, helping her deal more damage despite her slow attacks, while the DEF debuff makes it even easier for her to dispatch them. This is very helpful for newer players, who will struggle with medium to higher DEF enemies as they start to show up. The overcharged effect is nice for when you need more total damage output, is easy to charge during easier waves, and can easily proc her talent multiple times to keep it going for the waves thereafter.

Overall, her S2 is a very nice skill, making her a strong operator even for early game players who can’t invest too much into her yet. Once at Elite 2, however, this skill is basically completely replaced by her S3.

It’s a good skill already, but hard to recommend, as it is strictly a worse version of her third skill. For the same investment, you gain much less when mastering this skill than her third skill.

Attack Range expands, ATK +100%. Attacks deal damage twice, apply this unit's Trait effect to all enemies within range and create a layer of sticky liquid within Attack Range that lasts for 5 seconds. Ground enemies passing over the sticky liquid have Movement Speed -45% and DEF -220 (Does not stack).
Skill activation grants 32 ammo (each attack consumes 2 ammo) and the skill ends when all ammo is used (Can manually deactivate skill)

All around, an extremely powerful skill with incredibly high potential damage. Due to it being an AOE skill with a rather large attack range, you are essentially guaranteed to deal insane amounts of damage with this skill regardless of how many enemies are in range. It’s a straight upgrade over both of her previous skills. Her expanded attack range enables new placements, and the DEF and Movement Speed debuffs are further improved while also benefitting from her now expanded range. While the skill has a high ammo count, it does consume two ammo per shot, so it doesn’t last as long as it may seem. Regardless, it is still enough to, on average, get at least a couple of procs with her first talent throughout its entire use.

Keep in mind that her talent procs per attack rather than per ammo consumed. This means that the two ammo consumed only counts as one attack performed for her talent.

A no-brainer upgrade due to how good it is to begin with. More damage, stronger debuffs, and improved SP costs make an already powerful skill even better. Masteries don't allow you to do anything really new or interesting, but the skill can easily carry you throughout the entire game without breaking a sweat.

Synergy

Ammo Operators

Her talent is strong for others for the very same reasons that it is strong for her. A passive improvement to their total damage output is always nice to have as the mechanic becomes more and more prominent.
